On October 5th local time, the "Global Vision - Graduate Academic Exchange Support Program - (Zambia) Graduate Research Group" of Peking University visited the Zambia regional headquarters of China 15th Metallurgical Construction Corporation(15MCC). The delegation was led by Liu Haifang, Associate Professor at the School of International Studies and Director of the Center for African Studies at PKU. The team comprised over 20 faculty members and students.

Li Wenjie, the general manager of the Zambia Regional Headquarters of the 15MCC, extended a warm welcome to the research delegation and provided a detailed introduction to the company's development history in Zambia, its core business layout and future strategic planning. He pointed out that since 15MCC entered the Zambian market, it has been deeply involved in the development of Zambia's mineral resources and industrial upgrading, and is committed to becoming a leading comprehensive service provider for mines and a world-class copper smelting engineering enterprise in the industry, contributing Chinese wisdom to the mining cooperation between China and Zambia. In terms of business layout, the enterprise focuses on providing full industrial chain services for mines, offering integrated technical solutions from exploration and design, mining and construction to smelting and processing. It has participated in the construction and operation of several key copper mine projects in Zambia. At the same time, it has been deeply engaged in the field of copper smelting engineering, introducing advanced Chinese smelting technology to help Zambia increase the added value of mineral resources and promote the high-end development of the industry. In addition, the enterprise has long been committed to public welfare undertakings such as educational support, medical assistance, environmental protection practices and community co-construction, achieving a deep integration of enterprise development and local people's livelihood.

During the interactive session, the research team raised questions about the actual challenges of mining cooperation between China and Zambia, and the enterprise leaders responded one by one and shared their practical experiences.

Professor Liu Haifang expressed his gratitude in his summary for the warm reception by the Zambia Regional Headquarters of the 15MCC, highly recognized its contribution to Zambia's infrastructure construction, and pointed out that this research visit directly demonstrated the differences between theoretical research and overseas practice. He emphasized that the practice of the 15MCC in Zambia is a vivid portrayal of the "mutually beneficial and win-win" cooperation between China and Zambia. Through research, the team has gained a deep understanding of the innovative practices of Chinese-funded enterprises in areas such as technology output, local operation, and social responsibility, providing valuable first-hand materials for the study of China-Zambia cooperation and being of great significance for deepening related academic exploration.

Wang Xin, the president of the Copper Belt Provincial Branch of the Zambia Chinese Association, and his wife, as well as relevant leaders from the Zambia Regional headquarters of the 15MCC, participated in the above-mentioned symposium.
